‘Call of Duty’ Creators Working On Sci-Fi Shooter. Frak Yeah!

Jason West and Vince Zampella are the creators of Call of Duty, and also the two heads who got jettisoned out of  Infinity Ward last year in that enormous story of subterfuge and corporate espionage. The two of them have rallied by creating  Respawn Entertainment, and we’re finally getting word of their first game. A sci-fi shooter. Fuck yes.

Kotaku:

The game is being published by EA, and at an event earlier today EA Games’ Frank Gibeau said that, alongside  Insomniac’s  Overstrike, Respawn’s title is one of two “sci-fi-oriented shooters” on the company’s books.

This isn’t too surprising; it had long been rumoured that Infinity Ward (at least when Zampella and Young were still there) was working on a sci-fi shooter, so it must be great for the pair to actually get the chance to make it.

Gibeau says this will allow EA to finally compete directly with games like  Halo and  Gears of War in a genre the company has traditionally had little clout.

I’m down with this. Down like a clown, yo. World War II is played out, the whole Terrorists R Attackinz! thing is being beaten into a pulp, and I’m a total nerd. Of course I want them to take their FPS style into el futuro!
