Monday Morning Commute: War Forged

monday morning commute war forged

Oh, you thought you had seen the last of me? You know, me. Not the cavalcade of memes and occasional pop culture bursts that I post. Rather, the man-behind-the-man-behind-the-man?

Or, maybe I’m just bleeding banality and self-importance into a WordPress document for the ninth-year running.

Or, maybe you’re an OL regular who just sort of expected me to return when I found a moment in the existential rip tide. You know, a moment where I can stick my head briefly above water. A moment where I can share what I’m up to in this weird wild world.

Well, that moment is now, my friends! And, I must confess that I’m pushing through considerable fatigue to puke this up quick! This Monday Morning Commute! The weekly column where I share the arts and farts I’m currently enjoying. Or anticipating. I hope you’ll join me in the comments section, letting me know what you’re up to this week!

Thinking about: Mandy (2018)

What a severely hypnotic, challenging, disturbing, and fantastic movie. Saw it over the weekend.

Listening: BROCKHAMPTON

They’re like, if One Direction grew up listening to Das Racist and Death Grips? Or something?

Sweating: Daredevil (s3)

At this point, I don’t really give two tugs of a dead deity’s dicks about Netflix’s Marvel shows. However, I do genuinely two enthusiastic tugs of a dead deity’s dick about Matty Murdock and his adventures.

Reading: Kim Stanley Robinson’s New York 2140

Hey, the world is melting. So, why not read some speculative science-fiction? You know, about when New York finally floods.

Thinking about: American Vandal (s2)

Man, I fucking love this series. Not only is it a fantastic satire of true crime documentaries, but it’s also a really enjoyable interrogation of high school, and all the laughs and low lights that come along with it.

Listening: Bas’ Milky Way

I don’t know how to describe Bas. Chill rap? Golden sunset hip-hop? Whatever the case, I find him and his latest effort fantastically relaxing.

Sweating: Halloween (2018)

I should have had a good feeling when Halloween (2018) got John Carpenter’s blessing. But, I remained skeptical. However, man, the reviews are pouring out, and all signs point towards this movie fucking rocking. Awesome. Awesome!

Playing: Marvel’s Spider-Man

I really enjoy Marvel’s Spider-Man. And yet! And yet, I don’t find it particularly compelling. In other words, I can happily go a week without playing it. But at the same time, I can happily burn four hours on a Saturday afternoon playing it. It’s a weird situation, friends.

That’s it for me, friends. What are you up to this week? What are you enjoying lately? Let’s chat.
