‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald’ Trailer: Wait, Nagini was a circus performer or some shit at one point?

Uh. Just like. What the fuck is going on here, with this ancillary Harry Potter franchise? Nothing good, but it don’t matter. Movie still going to make a zillion dollars.

Polygon:

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is just around the corner, and a new trailer from Warner Bros. today is sprinkling in some last-minute sneak peeks.

Most intriguing is the uttering of a specific name: Nagini. Nagini is best known as Lord Voldemort’s faithful snake, but she gets reimagined in the new trailer. Perhaps this will act as an origin story for the snake who slithered loyally by her master’s side.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second installment in Warner Bros.’ planned five-part series, which centers on Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his adventures in a pre-Harry Potter wizarding world. Scamander is tasked with fighting Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), a dark wizard hell-bent on making the wizarding community a dominant society around the world. A young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) works closely with Scamander to ensure that Grindelwald is stopped, which we know eventually happens, because Grindelwald ends up as a prisoner in Nurmengard, the prison he built to lock up opponents who disagreed with him.

Earlier trailers have teased the appearance of popular landmarks that Harry Potter fans will instantly recognize, including Hogwarts Castle, where Dumbledore is teaching. Perhaps even Knockturn Alley, the offbeat corridor near Diagon Alley that’s littered with dark wizards doing nefarious deeds, will make an appearance too.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released on Nov. 16.
