Monday Morning Commute: Rainmaker, The One Who Makes It Rain

the one who makes it rain

Back to life, friends. Back to reality. At least, for people like me who are fortunate enough to have spent the last week wallowing in excess and friendship. So I have returned to reality, and I’m currently sitting in a very quiet Writing Center, writing very quietly.

None the less.

This week, this moment, every moment this week leading up to Friday evening is just a moment between Wrestle Kingdom 12 and (Bateman and) me. NJPW’s Wrestlemania equivalent. Unlike the aforementioned, though, it’s actually about wrestling and not about garbage spectacle and washed-up old men with dusty granite for knees.

None the less.

I also suppose that Friday evening marks my birthday as well. 35 fucking years-old, dude.  My Mom asked me how it feels to be turning 35, and the truth is, I don’t feel much. Or rather, I don’t feel much in some swelling, majestic, or even dejected manner. I feel, the same. I feel, content. I feel, like it’s a good excuse to eat Mexican food and cupcakes. Which, really, is all I ever want to do anyways.

None the less.

This is Monday Morning Commute! The column where we gather to discuss what we’re looking forward to on a given week. To detail the various disparate distractions that shall serve as a little grease under the rock we’re rolling up the hill. If, uh, grease helps. You, you get it, right? The movies we’re anticipating. The games we’re playing. The music we’re rocking.

I’ll go first!

—-

anticipating: the nfl playoffs, baby!

finishing: babylon’s ashes (only got forty pages left), baby!
