‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Trailer: Meet Dutch And His Gang (Again)

New trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, folks. It does two things for me. It gets me amped as fuck for the game, and it reminds me I should play the first.

Polygon:

Red Dead Redemption 2’s second full trailer is finally here, and it sets the stage for a grand ole adventure in the Old West.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive,” Rockstar said today. That confirms the theory that the game is a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption — the trailer shows us Dutch van der Linde, the ringleader of the gang that John Marston was forced to hunt down in that game.

Rockstar was originally planning to release Red Dead Redemption 2 this fall, but the company announced in May 2017 that it had delayed the game to spring 2018. Today’s trailer didn’t narrow down that release window; all we know is that the game is coming sometime after April 1, 2018, in the 2019 fiscal year of Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive. That would put the sequel approximately eight years after Red Dead Redemption, which launched in May 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is in development on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at Rockstar Studios. For more on Red Dead Redemption 2, check out the gallery of screenshots from May below, as well as the debut trailer from last October.
