Man, I was deeply unsettled by The Witch. However, I also fucking loved it. So, I can’t wait to see what the director and lead actress of said flick do with their upcoming remake of Nosferatu.

io9:

The Witch—the quietest, creepiest horror film of 2015—put both director Robert Eggers and star Anya Taylor-Joy on the map. Now, they may reteam to breathe life into another scary story.

Variety reports that Taylor-Joy is in negotiations to star in a remake of Nosferatu, which Eggers would direct. The original 1922 German film is a classic of the silent era; it was famously remade by Werner Herzog in 1979, and then was the subject of the 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire. Eggers has been attached to the project since 2015 and wanted Taylor-Joy to star, but she became very busy after The Witch. She starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, she’s currently shooting the X-Men film New Mutants, and will reprise her Split role in Glass, just to name a few.

If Eggers’ take on Nosferatu is true to the source material (which itself was a loose adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Taylor-Joy would likely play Ellen, the wife of a real estate agent who becomes the obsession of a new client, the vampire Count Orlok.

There’s no word on when Nosferatu might go into production but it almost certainly depends on Taylor-Joy’s schedule.
