‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Teaser Trailers: Watch It, Then Analyze It

Two teasers have dropped for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The first, a fifteen second staccato blast of frames. The second, a prolonged frame-by-frame analysis.

The Verge:

Kingsman: The Secret Service was an unexpected action-comedy success, so it’s only natural that we’re getting a sequel that looks to take all the best things about the first movie and go bigger and (hopefully) better than before.

Or at least, we think that’s what this teaser is getting at? The teaser arrives in two form: a 15-second rapid-fire montage and a fan-made frame-by-frame breakdown of the same video, slowed to cover 55-seconds.

Our friends at Polygon think the teaser is taking a shot at “teaser trailer culture.” But I wonder if this teaser is just the pre-roll that will soon precede the full trailer, convincing folks on Facebook to stop scrolling through their timeline. Remember: movie trailers now begin with ads for themselves because our attention space have gotten… sorry, what was I talking about?

Anyway, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is making the jump Stateside, where Eggsy, a member British Kingsman spy organization, is forced to team up with Statesmen, its American counterpart. The film sees the return of director Matthew Vaughn and breakout star Taron Egerton, along with Colin Firth (despite his apparent death in the first film) and Mark Strong, plus newcomers Channing Tatum, Jeff Daniels, and Pedro Pascal. As the trailer shows (blink and you’ll miss it) the spies will be going up again Julianne Moore as a criminal mastermind.
