‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Trailer: Light, Dark, Balance

Trailer for The Last Jedi. What more to say, man. I’m a fucking Star Wars herb, with the Force directly written into my DNA. It’s everything I want in a teaser trailer, save for the fact that it’s just a trailer and not the goddamn movie.

CBR:

“Breathe … just breathe,” Luke Skywaler says to Rey in the first seconds of the teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” but he could just as easily be talking to the franchise faithful, who have been waiting months for a first look at footage.

At more than two minutes in length, the teaser is likely longer than most fans might have expected at Star Wars Celebration, but it packs all the emotional punch they hoped for. We’re given glimpses of Rey’s Jedi training, and the never-ending struggle between light and darkness. There’s so much more than that, however, as we’re shown General Leia, a recovering Finn, a menacing Kylo Ren, a Rebel base under attack, the Millennium Falcon in action, a space battle, and a solemn declaration: “I only know one truth: It’s time for the Jedi … to end.”

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” features returning cast members Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Anthony Daniels as C-3P), Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma and Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, joined by franchise newcomers Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, and Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern in undisclosed roles.
