The biggest baddest villain from Game of Thrones has been cast in a key role in Marvel’s Inhumans TV series.

Polygon:

Iwan Rheon, better known by his Game of Thrones portrayal of the abhorrent Ramsay Snow, will lead Marvel’s team of Inhumans on ABC, the company confirmed today.

Rheon will play Maximus, a genius and Inhuman who was first introduced in Fantastic Four #47 back in 1966. He’s the son of acclaimed Attilan geneticist, Agon, and the brother of Black Bolt. In the comics, Black Bolt is the ruler of the Inhumans and according to a press release from Marvel, the show will explore the relationship between Black Bolt, Maximus and the rest of the Royal Family.

Although Maximus is deeply devoted to both his family and the people of Attilan, according to Marvel, he “harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.” The way Marvel is framing the series and the strained relationship between the two siblings, it looks like Inhumans may take a Thor and Loki-like approach. Inhumans follows a race of beings with superhuman powers, each wielding a unique ability. The heroes were first introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Marvel Comics in 1965.

Rheon was most recently in the sixth season of Game of Thrones and became one of the more popular, although heavily detested villains in the show’s history; perhaps only second to Joffrey. Prior to that, Rheon was best known for his work on the teenage sci-fi show from England, Misfits, where he played Simon Bellamy.

Inhumans was originally supposed to be a feature film, but Marvel decided to move the project to TV. ABC, which is also owned by Marvel Entertainment’s parent company, Disney, will air the first two episodes in IMAX theaters beginning September 1 before carrying out the rest of the season on traditional TV as of Sept. 26.
