First Look: Jesus In The ‘Big Lebowski’ Spin-Off

Here’s the first official look of The Jesus from the tenuously-linked Big Lebowski spin-off. It’s pretty whatever to me, but that’s probably due to Lebowski being a sacred cow of mine.

UPROXX:

Every Beatles song is someone’s favorite Beatles song, and every Coen brothers movie, save for possibly The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty, is someone’s favorite Coen brothers movie. I, personally, go back and forth between Barton Fink and Inside Llewyn Davis, but you could convince me that Fargo and Miller’s Crossing are better with little resistance. The most popular “favorite Coen brothers movie,” though, is probably The Big Lebowski, which doesn’t make it any less weird that a spinoff is happening 18 years after the original film, and that it’s about The Jesus, and that the Coens aren’t involved. Actually, that’s the only thing about all this that makes sense.

Back in August, we learned that John Turturro is resurrecting Jesus for Going Places, which “follows a trio of misfits whose irreverent, sexually charged dynamic evolves into a love story as their spontaneous and flippant attitude backfires time and again. When they make enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser, their journey becomes one of constant escape.” The film is based on the 1974 French sex farce Les Valseuses (that’s slang for “the testicles”), which Roger Ebert called “the most misogynistic movie I can remember.”
