‘Legion’ Trailer: Noah Hawley’s ‘X-Men’ spin-off twists into reality

This show is being produced by Noah Hawley. It’s on FX. It’s a tenuous X-Men spin-off. For the reasons listed before, I will watch this. Mainly because of Noah Hawley, though.

Polygon:

Marvel and FX released the first full-length trailer for Legion at San Diego Comic-Con today, giving us a look at series that will focus on mutant David Haller, aka Legion in Marvel Comics.

Admitted to a psychiatric hospital and diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, Haller slowly realizes that the voices he hears in his head aren’t delusions, but an effect of his mutant ability. Haller, played by Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), is gifted with a variety of psionic powers, including telekinesis and pyrokinesis, which are controlled by his multiple personalities.

FX’s Legion was created by Noah Hawley, who also created the network’s Fargo. Legion, the character, first debuted in 1985 in Marvel’s New Mutants. In the comic, he is the son of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X of the X-Men, and Holocaust survivor Gabrielle Haller.

Legion will debut in early 2017 on FX. Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Jean Smart (Fargo) will co-star.

In addition to Legion, Marvel has two more mutant-focused shows in the works: Hellfireat FX, which focuses on the Hellfire Club, and an untitled show for Fox.
