Xbox One getting backwards compatibility for 104 games this week
XB1 is getting that backwards compatibility game on this week, with an initial list of 104 games being supported. I know the aforementioned list is much maligned for the titles it contains, but just the promise of b/c in general has me stoked. Plus! I mean. It features Mass Effect, and apparently it runs better on the XB1.
Microsoft is just days away from launching its new Xbox One dashboard, and with it comes backwards compatibility. On Thursday, 104 Xbox 360 games will be playable on the Xbox One, allowing owners of Microsoft’s new console to play old multiplayer Xbox games with friends that own an Xbox 360. Microsoft previously promised more than 100 titles for the holiday, and now the company has released a list of all the games officially supported.
Titles like Fallout 3 and Mass Effect are supported, but Fallout: New Vegas and Mass Effect 2 and 3 are missing. It seems that Microsoft has focused on the oldest titles first, with games like the original Halo, Gears of War, and Perfect Dark all making the list. “Our launch of 104 titles on November 12th is just the beginning,” says Mike Ybarra, director of program management for Xbox. “You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December.”
Additional titles will include Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock,Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Skate 3 in the coming months. Microsoft is promising “a long list” of Xbox 360 games that will run on the Xbox One, so we’ll likely see many added throughout 2016. If you want to see a particular game added to the list, Microsoft is still accepting nominations through its Xbox feedback site, although only two of the top 10 suggestions are supported at launch.
