Report: PS4’s 3.00 beta firmware is adding YouTube broadcasting, Twitter clips, more!

kaz-dalf.

PS4 is getting into the YouTube Gaming Extravaganza Broadcasting business with their next firmware (beta) update. The firmware update is also bringing Twitter clips, and more. Sure, neat, whatever. When the futz will I be able to pin my favorite apps? When will I be able to change my PSN name? You know.  Being selfish. Stuff I care about.

Polygon:

The PlayStation 4 version 3.00 firmware release is currently available in Japan to participants of the console’s beta program, reports Pocket News (as translated by NeoGAF). In addition to the usual user interface enhancements, v3.00 brings with it the addition of YouTube broadcasting — just in time for YouTube’s big new gaming push due to launch “this summer” — and support for 10-second clips for Twitter.

Also included in the v3.00 beta: an “Events” menu to find and watch events related to PlayStation (we imagine press conferences here); a “Community” feature where you can make a new community or join an existing one; and new ways to more easily find and join games your friends are currently playing.

The last major PS4 firmware was v2.50, released in March of this year. That update included major features like the long-awaited suspend/resume functionality, new accessibility options including button mapping, and 60 fps support for Remote Play and Share Play.

We’ve reached out to Sony for confirmation and details on the v3.00 firmware update. We’ll update if and when we hear back.

Update: Gematsu has a full translation of the list, as first reported by Pocket News.
