The rumor about The Last Guardian living? Continuing on without Ueda? It’s true.

Polygon:

Long-delayed adventure game The Last Guardian is back. After many years of absence at PlayStation events like E3 and Tokyo Game Show, Sony showed the game at its E3 2015 press conference today, revealing all-new gameplay.

The Last Guardian will be released in 2016 on PlayStation 4, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed.

The game, directed by Fumito Ueda, is all about friendship and companionship, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America Shawn Layden said when re-introducing the game today. Sony showed gameplay featuring the game’s protagonist, a young boy and his massive feathery friend Trico, solving puzzles cooperatively and helping each other escape a crumbling city.

Team Ico’s The Last Guardian was first announced in 2009 as a PlayStation 3 title with an expected release date in 2011. The game has been in development since 2007.
