‘Cause why not? Everything else for PlayStation 4 has been delayed. Making this Fall and Autumn look…barren for the company whose grip on the console war is weakening.

Polygon:

Insomniac Games’ “re-imagination” of the original Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 is now scheduled to hit the system in spring 2016, Insomniac brand development director Ryan Schneider said on the PlayStation Blog today.

Originally, Sony and Insomniac planned to bring the original Ratchet & Clank to the current generation sometime this year. At E3 2014, Sony announced the PS4 game and an animated feature film based on Ratchet & Clank for the first half of 2015.

Now that the movie has a date — April 29, 2016 — it looks like the PS4 game will follow.

According to Schneider, the PS4 version of Ratchet & Clank “re-tells the origin story that ties in closely and expands upon the movie’s narrative.” Schneider says the game will also feature new levels, new weapons and “completely redone visuals.”

Ratchet & Clank was originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2002. The most recent entry in the series was 2013’s Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus for PlayStation 3.
