BioWare: Next ‘Mass Effect’ will feature multiplayer

Mass Effect.

One of the surprising things about Mass Effect 3 was how fucking awful its conclusion was. Another surprising thing about Mass Effect 3, though, was how fun its multiplayer was. So bring it on!

Polygon:

BioWare’s next entry in the Mass Effect universe will include an online component, according to a job listing tweeted by senior development director Chris Wynn.

Details of how the studio plans to integrate online features have yet to be revealed, with Wynn stating only that the studio is looking to “shape online” for the upcoming game.

“Things are getting real now and I need an excellent Producer to come shape online for the next Mass Effect,” wrote Wynn.

However, the job listing itself confirms BioWare is looking for an online producer to help create connected multiplayer experiences. The post reads: “Create and champion the vision of the multi-player, connected experiences and online features of the game which respects the project leadership goals and be accountable for the quality targets and the results achieved.”

Last year, BioWare confirmed is being penned by the lead writer of Halo 4; although, details of the new Mass Effect are still scant. BioWare has previously said it will focus on exploration. The game will also see the return of the Mako, the all-terrain vehicle that players can pilot on the surface of planets.

BioWare revealed that it had plans for “another full game” in the Mass Effect franchise way back in 2012. The developer said previously that calling the new title Mass Effect 4 is a “disservice” to the game, as it will not follow the trilogy’s Commander Shepard.

I’m down.
