DC teases JOKER’S DAUGHTER’S debut in NEW 52. Frankly, I didn’t know she existed.

Duela Dent.

Duela Dent is coming to the New 52! Hide your kids, hide your wives. Jesus Christ, talk about a stale cultural reference. Fuck you, Caff! Anyways, yeah. Joker’s Daughter is coming to the refried DC Universe. Perhaps this excites you. Frankly, I didn’t even know the Joker had a daughter. I understand this is a cascading wave of comic book failure raising towards me.

CBR:

DC Comics continued its newly-launched show-and-tell column “What’s New in The New 52” this morning with the reveal of some new artwork: a character design for Joker’s Daughter, with the description, “Something evil lurks under Gotham City and it wears the Joker’s face.” The design follows has a definite visual similarity toGreg Capullo’s redesign of the Joker for “Death of the Family,” with a face that looks like a skin mask. She sports both a cane and a pie made with shards of broken glass. It’s currently unknown when and where this new Joker’s Daughter will appear, or whether the New 52 character has any connection to the original version, one of the most convoluted balls of continuity and identity misdirects the DC Universe has ever seen.

Duela Dent is primarily known as the Joker’s Daughter post-Crisis, but pre-Crisis also claimed herself to be the daughter of Scarecrow, Riddler, Two-Face and Penguin. Before the New 52, Duela was constantly on both sides of the Hero/Villain spectrum, briefly joining the Teen Titans and changed sides over and over again. Her final appearance before the DC relaunch was during “Countdown,” when it was discovered she came from an alternate Earth.
