Cassaday’s Cover For ‘UNCANNY AVENGERS #1′ Debuts, Makes Me Smile. I Hate Myself.

One of the problems of being both bipolar and posting news and reacting to it immediately is that I often find myself oscillating. ‘Cause I’m crazy and also cause I don’t allow myself much time before passing the swag along to you folks. So despite my initial reaction and desired stance, I’m getting a tickle in my balls for Uncanny Avengers.

As details of the sweeping “Marvel NOW” initiative begin to take shape, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first cover for “Uncanny Avengers,” the new series by Rick Remender and John Cassaday that pits a combined team of X-Men and Avengers against a reawakened Nazi-loving, mutant-hating Red Skull.

Although Marvel already revealed the “Uncanny Avengers” team will include Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and Havok, Cassaday’s art fills out the team roster with Scarlet Witch and Rogue.

“I’m not just smashing the heroes together, I’m smashing the villains together,” Remender told Entertainment Weekly earlier this week. “It becomes something unlike anything we’ve ever seen, with stakes that are so huge, it takes a team comprised of the best Avengers and the best X-Men to go take care of it.”

“Uncanny Avengers” debuts in October.

    I am loving that Havok throwback design. right down to the red gem on the forehead. I wish it was the classic headpiece but i love it. Also digging the Thor “Ages of Thunder” costume but I still think the current Thor costume is the best

    Does anybody know what’s going on with Thor? I thought he was all dead and shit after Fear Itself. Is he back? Coming back?

    didn’t read fear itself. Doubt Marvel would have killed him before Avengers movie was about to drop. He was part of the intercept-phoenix-in-space team in secret avengers and have seen him in AvX (yeah, i’m reading it. X-men fanboy for life)

    Want to indulge me with a quick AvX recap? Isn’t there the Phoenix Five or some shit?
    I really don’t get how Cap is going to partner up with Osama Bin Summers at the end of this event.

    okay let’s see. Avengers want Hope because they suspect the Phoenix is coming. Cyclops does not want to give her up. hilarity ensues. wolverine immediately wants to kill her. she escapes and sends everyone on a wild goose chase to find her. Cap sidelines Wolverine because he thinks he is too emotionally invested or something. Wolverine gets to her first and she tells him that she needs his help to go to the moon and confront the phoenix and that he is the only one who can end her if things get out of hand. He tells her he will and as soon as she takes a nap, he calls cap to show him that he is a good soldier. She wakes up and the avengers are already on the moon waiting to capture her.
    Cyke finds out Hope is on the moon so he has Magik transport his team there. The Phoenix approaches and Stark shows up with this Phoenix Buster Armor which looks like a house with feet. Hope chokes and the phoenix force gets distributed between the 5 mutants around her – Cyclops, Emma, Magik, Colosus, and Namor aka the P5
    They go back to earth, try to make the world better and people love them for it. Avengers get totes jelly and decide that they are going to steal Hope again. The P5 destroy the Avengers. Hope says she wants to leave and Scarlet Witch shows up to support Hope and the Avengers. X-Men get pissed/scared because Wanda’s magic hurts them. Vision talks mad shit to Wanda. Avengers decide they need to take prisoners for some reason. I think it is to thin out the X-Men ranks. Wanda fucks with Namor big time. They retreat to Wakanda.
    Iron Fist and the Thunderer show up and tell Cap that Hope would be safe in the Magical City of K’un-L’un and that she needs to train to become an iron fist and stop the phoenix. Meanwhile, Emma pushes Namor to take action against the avengers. He goes to Wakanda, super pissed, and is about to flood the city before anyone can escape.
