It’s Monday. Late Monday, to be precise. Just got done with a long day of tutoring and staring at college chicks. Shit, don’t tell my girlfriend. Anyways, everything is utterly boring on the internet today. Nothing I feel like really churning over, and over, and over again. There’s fifteen sites that can all tell you the same thing. So instead, I’m going to try and interact with you guys on an idea I got for a weekly column:
Monday Morning Commute.
Every Monday I’m going to detail the various things I’m either currently or will be watching, reading, playing, and listening to in the next seven days. It’s Monday. You’ve got a long week of school, work, or compulsive masturbation to get through. Tell me the arts that you’re indulging in, to stave off suicide. Check out my list after the jump:

Playing / Halo 3: ODST
I know this shit isn’t out yet, but I’ve cleared my gaming board to make way for this. I’m overly eager to play this son of a bitch. I don’t really know why. I haven’t been blown away by a Halo title since the original. I think it’s the new narrative approach and the fact that you don’t play as Masturbate Chef again. It’ll be nice to play as some general scrub running through the madness. I’m rocking this shit at midnight, which means, according to the reviews, I will have completed the game by 2:30 am.

Watching / Mad Men Season 2
If you’re not watching Mad Men, you’re missing out on the best god damn show on television. No, seriously. You think everything else is good, but this takes a fat dump on it. It’s steaming and smells of whiskey. My friend Patrick Mars tells me that The Wire is better than this, but I haven’t seen it. So, with the caveat that I may enjoy LOST and BSG more, this has to be the tightest, best written show I’ve ever seen. I’m currently two episodes into season 2, and I predict I will have conquered the entire season by Sunday.
I’m also dabbling in the latest season of The Office, and watching The Patriots get the shit kicked out of them.

Listening / Every Time I Die: New Junk Aesthetic
ETID rocks the shit out of my ass. Seriously. Sonically, it blows craps out of my sphincter. Their newest album New Junk Aesthetic came out last week, and it’s been in heavy rotation since then. I’m also listening to new Shadows Fall which is pretty blase, but satisfies my need for refried Maiden riffs and the same double-bass beat they’ve been hitting since 1991.

Reading / The Brothers Karamzov
I have been reading this monolith since like, January of 2003. Alright, only since the beginning of this year. But whether it’s because I’ve been too tired and didn’t think I’d be giving it a fair shake, or I’ve stopped to read something else, I haven’t conquered this sack of shit. It’s dense as hell, super-brilliant, and generally enlightening. Dostoevsky makes me feel like an intellectual ant. I enjoy it.
I’m also trying to catch up on last week’s issues of Batman and Robin and Captain America: Reborn sometime soon.
So what are you doing this week?
I just finished Dragon Quest IV for the DS. A game completion 16-17 years in the making, considering I rented the original NES version back in the early 90s and got to the last chapter but didn’t finish it before I had to return it. That has to be some sort of record, right?
The Mad Men buzz is getting to be nearly irresistible but I don’t know if I have time to get into it with school starting up in two days. Who ever thought AMC, of all channels, would come up with something like that?
Esoteric – Saving Seamus Ryan.
Dude, just get it. The real thing. You need the layout.
Im working my way through Prototype with a little Beatles rockband in between.
The Office is a given for me. Been rockin my “Schrute Farms Beets” t-shirt to bed :p
@ Patrick
Mad Men is absolutely worth the hype, dude. It’s got to be the best television show, quality-wise, since S1/2 of BSG or The Shield.
@ Gus
Acquired!
@ Jill
How is Prototype?
Playing a lot of Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story and dicking around with my new iPhone since I’m commuting a lot this week.
Watched all of Lost beginning to end and finished last night. What a show. Second time through was still awesome. Watching Glee now (it’s feel-good and the lead dude teacher is cute, shut up!) – will have to pick up Dexter and Mad Men soon based on way too many recommendations.
Dude, I need to watch LOST again so bad. How did you do the last season? Did you keep it on DVR, or download it?
Also, I don’t have to hate on Glee, I actually want to watch it. Everything I’ve heard said that it’s fun and light-hearted.
And Mad Men! What a fucking show. I love Dexter beyond belief, but if i had to recommend one show to anyone, it would be Das Men.
Prototype is decent, im enjoying utterly destroying NYC. Its not super challengeing (at least not yet) but Im liking the powers. I’d say its worth checking out. I know there was a price drop on it already so im sure the used ons aren’t too expensive.
I rented out Season 1 on a friend’s account, DL’d seasons 2/5, and bought 3/4 used for cheap on DVD, and am planning to resell them back to the place before Lost fever dies next summer. lollerskates!
Being able to watch episodes in succession really connects the dots a million times better. I’m terrible at remembering small details from one week to the next; so much shit happens between every Wednesday, I don’t know how people do it. So this was perfect for catching up.
Do eeet!
Yeah, Mad Men’s next on the list for sure.
Oh, and Dollhouse is apparently (and miraculously) beginning its second season sometime very soon? I don’t even know when. I pray it transforms into awesome like Buffy and Angel did in their second seasons.
Stuckrickton –
No doubt.I need to rewatch the show again before the final season. I’m rewatching BSG with Bags/Sam and seeing it one episode after another really keeps things fresh, and the connections make sense. Since you know, it hasn’t been two years since they introduced the threadline.
Jilly –
I wanted to check out Prototype. But I think I’m going to rock inFamous before hand. I’m a sucker for uh, Sucker Punch games.
